Cat in Tiny Tent

Random Quips From Home

Lately, my life hasn’t been so much a story as a series of funny moments:

My son got dressed for school and came down with two hats.
Me: Which one are you going to wear?
Him: I’m kicking it up a notch.

By wearing BOTH hats and not staying still for the photo.

My daughter asked me to be her patient.
Dr. N placed the stethoscope on my chest and asked: Do you need a heartbeat?
Me: Yes.
Her: Uh-oh.

Dr. Princess
STAT! CODE! YOU’RE DEAD!

My daughter asked to go camping.

I finally cleaned out my purse before heading to NYC again.

Did I forget to tell you I’m a masked avenger who bowls a lot?

We are coming off a long weekend and right into a snowstorm (which in Virginia means canceling school before it starts snowing) and another polar vortex (which in Virginia means canceling school because IT’S COLD). I hope to be able to form thoughts around an entire story rather than just moments once we are back in a semblance of routine.

But if you love the tidbits, here are my last quip pieces:

Alex Iwashyna

Alex Iwashyna went from a B.A. in philosophy to an M.D. to a SAHM, poet and writer by 30. She spends most of her writing time on LateEnough.com, a humor blog (except when it's serious) about her husband fighting zombies, awkward attempts at friendship, and dancing like everyone is watching. She also has a soft spot for culture, politics, and rude Southern people who offend her Yankee sensibilities. She parents 2 elementary-aged children, 1 foster baby, 3 cats, and 1 puppy, who are all Southern but not rude. Yet.
