Just Stop Sleeping And Help Some People Out

Me: ‘Do you want to watch another episode?’

Scott: ‘No, I can’t.’

Me: ‘This is why I hate watch TV shows with you.’

Scott: ‘Because I sleep?’

Me: ‘Yeah.’

When we’re not sleeping or watching TV, my family likes to help others just as we’ve been helped. We give to charities¬†and people throughout the year, but during the holidays, I think money struggles and the “have and have-nots” feel more stark so we reach out through Late Enough to offer support. In the past, we’ve helped pay for an unexpected car bill or Christmas presents for kid who have gone without in the past.

I also like to not take myself too seriously.

Email me at alex{at}lateenough{dot}com or leave a comment below, and let me know what’s up. We’ll work something out because you aren’t alone even if no one will watch TV with you. (Okay, that was a terrible tie in, but I AM on very little sleep.)

Alex Iwashyna went from a B.A. in philosophy to an M.D. to a SAHM, poet and writer by 30. She spends most of her writing time on, a humor blog (except when it's serious) about her husband fighting zombies, awkward attempts at friendship, and dancing like everyone is watching. She also has a soft spot for culture, politics, and rude Southern people who offend her Yankee sensibilities. She parents 2 elementary-aged children, 1 foster baby, 3 cats, and 1 puppy, who are all Southern but not rude. Yet.

    1. Well I’m probably slightly more lovely when I’m asleep. No awkward faux pas sneak out and I can’t become an angry driver, but thank you. I’m mostly glad we can help like people have helped us.
