With Only Six Seconds, I Can’t Screw Up Vine Too Much

I like tech, and there’s a new app called Vine where anyone can take 6 second videos and post them to Twitter or Facebook or to Vine itself. I guess it’s like Instagram for video except I’m not on Instagram so I’m just saying what all the articles on real website say about the app. But video intrigues me because I like stop animation, the idea of animated gifs with sound and my own voice.

This youtube video explains vine better than me if you are still confused.

I find it amazing how creative people can be in 6 seconds. Here are just a few cool ones (also the video above has some too):

I, however, have decided to stick with cats because I have never been able to do anything niche-like on the web so I’m determined to finally take over the Internet and cats are clearly the key to it all. Plus, I have four of them. However, Loki was unimpressed with my first vine video, and it was of him making me quite concerned about my lack of talent.

So I did the only other American thing to do besides quitting. I doubled-down. I’m now doing only cat propaganda.

(I love Lars so I may do some dog propaganda videos on vine, too. Just don’t tell my cat public. Gawd, I suck at niches.)

Feel free to find me on vine by clicking here if you have the vine app downloaded (although it’s still only on iPhone and iPad — suckahs). Oh and there was all this fuss about p0rn being on there but unless you plan to add it, I haven’t seen any.

Otherwise, this post is mostly a warning that you should expect short videos of awesome in the future. Or I’ll get bored like I did with Drawsome and after months of drawing Elton John, I’ll never mention it again.

  1. I also have vine and although I’m sort of unsure how to use it, I did get to showcase my amazing super bowl spread so if you follow me there, you’ll get to see that. And probably cats. And also nail polish if you’re into that kind of thing. I have no idea what my name is on there, however..probably the same as Twitter? AmandaAustin? I’m so confused.

    1. It took me forever to figure out how to link to my user name. All I know is if you click on this (vine://user/908527331658842112) while on your iPhone or iPad, I should come up to follow? I dunno because I don’t see you when I search for Twitter people and I follow you there. Do you see me?

  2. I can’t imagine 6 seconds of p0rn would be terribly entertaining or effective.

The only person in our house that owns an iPad is my daughter (bought her own, just so we’re clear) and I’m debating whether to make her aware of this app. She’d be all over it.

    1. It does loop although it’d have to be a pretty exciting part of the p0rn.

How old is she? I think vine creatives are pretty amazing, but you may want to explore it with her at first. Also, does she have the iPad that takes pictures/videos? Because if she doesn’t, it will be only for viewing, she can’t contribute then. I also got my first iPad last month on a trade so I have no idea what I’m talking about with them.

      1. She’s 14, almost 15. She does have her own YouTube channel, so I’m sure my trepidation is because we’ve had some issues with jerks harassing her on that more than what she’d actually put up there. And yes, her iPad does video. In HD. She’s so high tech it’s scary. I guess I’m a little skittish after the YouTube incident, but I’ve been told that YouTube is the second largest cesspool on the internet (behind 4chan) so maybe it won’t be as bad on Twitter.

  3. youtube is bad because it’s the second most searched site after google so there’s just so many people on it. i got called the saddest person on the internet there and that’s saying A LOT. twitter, you can block people, which helps, but there are weirdos and people get offended over the most bizarre stuff. However, I’ve had way more fun on Twitter than bad times and closing an account or going private is really easy.
