Les Misérables Wedding Flash Mob, Big-To-Me Announcement And Enough Links For Your Weekend

by Alex Iwashyna

in Reading & Writing Elsewhere

Last week, I posted the hilarious link that made fun of Les Misérables Movie in my round-up, but I grew up going to Broadway shows and playing the songs on the piano and I know all the words and this Les Misérables Wedding Flash Mob made my cry. IT’S AWESOME.

My Other Hangouts (Don’t Tell My Blog):

MakesFunofStuff ButtonI’m making some changes on Late Enough. My collaborative review/lifestyle blog, This Blogger Makes Fun of Stuff, will be closing early next week. I have not made the official announcement on the site, but because it’s already affecting Late Enough, I’m letting y’all know. YOU HAVE A SCOOP. I’m the Deadspin of mom blogs everywhere.

There’s no drama to it. I just don’t have time to run two separate websites, live my life and care for Late Enough. I warn my clients of the perils of maintaining multiple sites, but two years ago, I was afraid of having too many reviews and giveaways on Late Enough. I wanted my main blog to be “pure” whatever the heck that means. Today, I’m happy to say no to companies when I don’t think it fits my family, my blog or my freaders, and I think that I do a decent job of exposing without over-exposing y’all to cool opportunities.

I’m thinking that an every Saturday or Sunday review/lifestyle/giveaway post would work on Late Enough, but if it doesn’t fit me or y’all, we’ll move to less often.

What I will miss most about MF is working weekly with Carrie and Leigh Ann and paying writers.

I will be keeping This Blogger Makes Fun of Stuff live for at least a few months as I think it’s a good resource. If you wrote for the site, feel free to take your work as it’s yours. Oh and the social media of the site may shift to just funny crap I find on the Internet. I haven’t decided yet.

Thank you to those of you who supported the site for the last two years.

Favorite posts I didn’t read, I mean, write:

  • Did “Glee” rip off Jonathan Coulton’s cover of “Baby Got Back”?: From Salon, I totally think Glee stole this guy’s version of “Baby Got Back.” Do you agree? (WTH)
  • Why We May Never Beat Stigma: From The Fix, if everything is called an addiction, the stigma will never be broken. I thought the author’s definition of addiction was particularly interesting: True addiction is continuing to do it in face of negative consequences. If someone is only getting rewards and stops the minute they are caught and cries addiction, is it just an excuse? (interesting)
  • The best out of context Wil Wheaton gif: From WIL WHEATON dot TUMBLR, so funny so nerdy maybe NSFW depending on your boss. Also, I love following Wil Wheaton but I also love Star Trek. (nerdy funny)

I LOVE that video. I am so into musical theater. If something like that had happened at my wedding I would’ve been over the moon. Sigh.

And I’m so sad to hear about Makes Fun closing! I think you all have done an amazing job with that site. Good for you for recognizing your boundaries even though it will be missed! And I do totally feel like an insider since you gave us the scoop!

Have a great weekend!
