We Are Heading To A New York Giants’ Home Game

The New York Giants won the Super Bowl and the heart of my oldest child. My brainwashing will finally be complete when I take him to a New York Giants home game this fall.

I remember going to home games (I grew up in Connecticut) and the excitement and ferocity with which Giants fans love and hate their team is best felt in the stands. The field is so much longer in person and the players are real people and everything is high fives and collective groans. My children will finally understand why I yell at our television so much.

Plus, Scott and I have each gone to New York City this year, but we have never gone as a family and the kids are starting to take it personally.

However, since the main event is the New York Giants and E’s godfather lives close to the stadium, we decided to stay in Jersey City near the Path so we can bring the kids to FAO Schwarz and the Empire State Building but also have easy access to the Sunday game. A new website, Room 77, for finding and booking hotels at the best (read: low) rates teamed up with Clever Girls Collective, and I was in the market for a nice hotel at a bargain rate so I decided to give it a whirl.

The prices are great. Not only did the site find good deals, Room 77 isn’t afraid to provide comparisons to all their competitors and even allows users to check out the other websites with a click of a button. I’m a bargain shopper who usually has to go to multiple websites to compare and contrast, but Room 77 does it all for me.

The hotels listed are all the ones our friend suggested in Jersey City and the reviews match up to his thoughts on the hotels, which allows me to feel comfortable for the next trip when I don’t have a friend in town to verify a good hotel. I need to be able to trust the ratings especially when traveling with children because staying in sleazy hotels or changing hotels isn’t fun.

I love that I can search for hotels with pools, free wifi, free parking, special rates, and a room with a view! And if I was traveling by myself or with Scott, the site would be perfect. However, there isn’t a way to let the search engine know that our small children will need a place to sleep so double beds or a small suite is necessary until I’ve chosen a specific hotel. I would like that to be a filter in the beginning or in the sidebar.

Easy to use, bargain rates, and trustworthy? That’s my kind of site.

We are so excited for our trip I made a countdown calendar. I love New York City. I love subways and street vendors and city parks and pianos on the floor and building so tall I feel dizzy. But mostly I’m excited to watch my son see our favorite team live and surrounded by crazed fans. Like me.

GO BIG BLUE!

Never wonder whether you’ve gotten the best deal on your hotel room again. Check out Room 77 when planning your next travel adventure!

My husband can’t wait until we can all go to an NFL game. Unfortunately he is a Lions fan. Can’t say I’m super excited to visit Detroit. Not nearly as cool as NYC.

Detroit may not get a blog post.

As a mom, I love your blog. As a NE resident, I have to hate that you are a Giants fan. I, personally, don’t follow football or care a great deal either way, but I think it’s in my residency agreement to respond coolly (at a minimum) to all NE rivals.

Have fun in NY. Our kids are desperate to go. But only because they heard there are giant M&M and Hershey stores.

And we are definitely NE’s arch enemy at this point…
PS. I’m not mentioning the giant M&M store to my kids…

Have a great time! If the “Beloved Patriots” play at Phoenix I’ll get to see them. They’re playing the Cardinals this weekend. Jamie roots for the Cards. There may be blood in our house.

Ooh, fun! (except for the blood in the house part)

So fun! I’m excited for for you! It’s so neat to see our kids develop a liking for things near and dear to us as parents. Cheer loudly for Rob Gronkowski because he’s on my Fantasy Football Team.

Um, Rob Gronkowski is on the New England Patriots. Maybe you meant someone else who is on the Giants? I hope this isn’t how fantasy football is going. Heh.

Yep. That would be a problem wouldn’t it…DOH!

We have a couple of friends that are Giants fans. We met them when we lived in Texas (we were both expats from our home states). We moved back to Minnesota and when the Vikings played the Giants at the dome, they flew up here to see the game. It was pretty awesome. Well, for us it was, because the Vikings actually won. Which tells you it was a while ago.

Oh, I remember when the Vikings used to steal the playoff runs from the Giants. Grrr….

Yay! NY is my old stomping ground. I hope the Giants win.
