My Only Hope Is To Stay Anonymous In My Pajamas

I’ve been thinking about changing my avatar.

(aside: an avatar is the tiny photo next to my comments, tweets and in most of my bios for my freelance work.)

LateEnoughVeryClose
My current avatar

I like it mostly because I’m wearing my pajamas in my headshot and that makes me laugh.

However, I’ve been told to change my bio picture because 1) it doesn’t look like me and 2) as one person put it bluntly, I’m prettier than my picture and I should show that off.

I think it was a compliment. I also think it looks like me so I’m not sure how much of a compliment.

The first time I tried to change my avatar, I took this picture.

I'm sure my kid feels loved. On days I don't need a new avatar.

(aside: I miss my short hair.)

For the most recent avatar change attempt, I took this picture.

Best date my husband has ever been on. Probably.

While I would like to look beautiful and be a good mom and wife, it’s clearly impossible. My only hope is to stay anonymous in my pajamas. Well-played neglected family. Well-played.

  1. I think it’s the bangs. They hide your trademark eyebrows. Eyebrows can be a trademark, right?

This avatar business is stressful. I can’t change mine until I find or get another perfectly lit flattering photo of myself, and trust me, those are hard to come by. And I just (2 months ago) cut my hair short for the first time in my life and I LOVE it. I may never go back.

  2. I’ve been thinking of changing my avatar to a hot blonde porn star. People with those kind of avatars seem to get a lot more traffic.

  3. Okay, so I’d have had no idea you were in your jammies if you hadn’t told me! second? I think you’re darling in all these shots!

I think you are gorgeous with or without bangs and the pic with DS in the tub makes me giggle.

    xoxoxo

p.s. how do you keep your brows so perfect? do you do them yourself??

      1. So it can be assumed that the unibrow has been legally separated but not entirely divorced? I applaud your anti-unibrow efforts. The result is lovely.

  4. Has anyone ever told you that you favor actress Emmy Rossum? (Shameless, The Phantom of the Opera, Mystic River…) This has nothing to do with an avatar, but I just thought I’d mention it, since it popped into my head. Which is a feat, considering I’m still running on no coffee this morning. Who runs out of sugar on a Monday??? Who??

    Oops. Sorry. LOL

  5. I think you are very pretty and in your current avatar you look kind of tired/bored. I also agree with Leigh Ann: don’t cover your awesome trademark eyebrows! Why not force Scott to do a photo shoot for you? You could wear cute pajamas! 🙂

  6. Kinda makes me wish a backstory for every avatar would appear if you hovered over it. How many aim to look unaffected and unposed and yet are the result of eleventy attempts?

    Yours are all adorable.

  7. Is your husband reading The Hunger Games in that last picture?

When I first started looking for blogs about motherhood and kids I think yours was the first one I found and liked. Your avatar attracted me right away because you looked a little vulnerable which I could completely relate to as a new mother. So, I love it because every time I see your avatar it reminds me of how far I have come as a mom and how much more confidence I have now. Reading blogs like yours has helped me grow into motherhood a little easier than I would have on my own. I think you look terrific in all of your pictures, but that first one will probably always be my favorite!
