I Am Drawsome!

I saw some tweets about Draw Something, and I immediately knew it was an app I must ignore if I wanted to have a life.

Five minutes after making that decision, I downloaded it and emailed my sister so I had someone to play against who would be as swayed by make up words like app and drawsome.

(By the way, drawsome is the best word in the non-language dictionary and shouting it at me every time I get something right on Draw Something is EXACTLY HOW YOU KEEP ME COMING BACK.)

I woke up the next morning to:

Now you understand why I emailed her in the first place.

The game is basically pictionary with your finger.

I was a pictionary genius. Clearly.

You pick a word, draw it on the screen and send your picture to the other person who has to guess it. You both get coins based on the difficulty of the word.  And my favorite part is, when they send you a word, you first get to watch them guess your word. I ALWAYS watch the guessing for 3 drawsome reasons.

  1. To test my drawing abilities
  2. To test the other person’s ability to be on the Alex wavelength
  3. Most importantly, to test that my drawing awesomeness is not wasted on someone who gives up halfway through watching my detailed art work.
A still life of my Macbook.

I didn’t even know who this guys WAS last year and now I’m drawing him WITH MY INDEX FINGER.

I'm a Belieber. Or a Biedrawlber

And finally my rendition of the apocalypse.

Armageddon: Conservative Christian Style.

I even got my husband to play. He’s an amazing artist who completely sucks at Words With Friends so I thought HERE OUR APP CHANCE.

The first few pictures didn’t go so well and tf he wasn’t my husband, I would’ve written him off as a #2. Then I got this drawing.

The caption underneath each stick figure is "Me" (as in Scott read books in college) and "You" (as in I did not because I was VERY THIRSTY).

Follow by Scott realizing I drew a squirrel, after talking himself through not having the letters for Yoshi in a tree, which is EXACTLY what I knew he’s think so I drew a second squirrel on the ground throwing nuts into a tree hole.

A tiny animated dinosaur who struck gold in a tree?
Nope, just a squirrel trying to get a nut so move your butt to the dance floor (can't you see the second squirrel breaking it down 90s style? Just nod.)

Besides bringing my husband and I closer together, Draw Something helps you to get to know who really gets you. Like my sister and I are on a 71 game winning streak.

So I plan on weeding out all potential friends with a week’s worth of Draw Something. And maybe some old friends, too. I don’t have time for friendship anyway. I’m busy being drawsome.

She also has a soft spot for culture, politics, and rude Southern people who offend her Yankee sensibilities. She parents 2 elementary-aged children, 1 foster baby, 3 cats, and 1 puppy, who are all Southern but not rude. Yet.

  1. I realized that I had a Draw Something problem last night sometime when i played it instead of cleaning up after dinner, then instead of packing lunches, then instead of going to bed.

It’s still kinda glitchy. Every so often I have to quit the app and load it again to get it to update.

    I’ve got 11 games going currently. . .

    1. Yes! It is so glitchy and some elements of it are poorly designed (like you can’t exit the current game without restarting the app, so if you chose to play against a random person who likes to write the words you have to take a few extra steps to leave it), AND YET it’s still so addictive. I think you learn a lot about people by how they chose to draw pictures. At least, I am learning a lot about myself that way.

  2. You are an artistic genius. I’m completely ignoring this game. I played words with friends for 2 days and had to give it up. Yoshi in a tree – hilarious.

    1. It’s in the app store under “draw something.” I couldn’t link because it depends on your smartphone and they didn’t have a good website that I could find. Do you have an iPhone or iPad because I can send you the iTunes link (that’s a lot of ‘i’s). If you find it yourself, my username is “LateEnough.”

  3. This is fantastic. I’d play you but I have 30 games going. And yes, those are dishes sitting in my sink. From Wednesday
