The Worst Fashion Mistakes (Made By Me)

I only look fashionable now because I got out all of my bad ideas early. (Or my fashion strength lies in my ability to be delusional. Yay!)

This is actually the coolest I look from this age through 16. And I'm wearing garland.

I will also be the youngest person in space. And that bow is my spaceship.

My mom insists that I loved these glasses. I think that should've been the first sign I needed therapy.

This is the dress and skinny tie that I'm wearing in the above picture and in every other picture for about ten years. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that dress-skirt-tie-overalls weren't still in my closet just waiting for me to think THAT IS A GOOD IDEA again.

My bangs are trying to escape my sweater.

The perm not quite grown out look is only works when wearing the blue crystal necklace.

The towel is not apart of the ensemble. But surprisingly, the boots with the ankle length floral dress and wool socks, is.

Up next?

The college years. Also known as the Black Stretchy Pants and Vomit series.

  1. Oh my gosh, these pictures are amazing. You just made my day. I LOVE the poofy bangs! You know what though, as ridiculous as your hair and outfit choices may be, you look very pretty!

  2. Man oh man. Those are pretty bad. I’m sure I’ve got worse. I too remember a time when I thought horrendously ugly glasses were cool. What WERE we thinking?

  3. Did not one person lead an intervention? Although I personally think that EVERYONE should get a pass on the 80’s an we’re moving on….

  4. it saddens me to think how many photos exist of me committing these very same fashion atrocities. i owned a rainbow’s worth of those crystal necklaces, and frequently wore several at the same time. during my Perm Period (which lasted ten years) i was frequently mistaken for julia louis dreyfuss–go watch some of the old seinfelds and you’ll see what i’m talking about. i wore the ensemble from #4 every day for 6 years, but of course, i had to–it was my catholic school uniform. and yes, where did we ever get the idea that flowery dresses and boots made an enticing combination? the eighties were a dark, dark time…but at least they weren’t the 70s.

  5. Love these! I’ll be at my parent’s house this weekend & might have to search to find some old school photos of myself. These cracked me up!

  6. I totally had the same crystal necklace, but I had a brown and a purple one, they were my higher power for a while 🙂

  7. I had glasses just like that. I apparently loved them as well. Sadly, I do not believe my fashion sense has gotten any better either!

  8. I had the same crystal!! And an amulet that was supposed to protect me from violent death/scare my mother. My friends thought it was a smart move because of the way I used to drive!!

  9. This must be a future philosophy major and student of medicine thing.

I insisted that the strangest ensembles were fashionable. Except that I was 4’11” tall and 70lbs. As a junior in high school. So I looked fashionable in nothing.

I rocked the colored jeans and baggy sweaters well into the late 1990’s. Oh yeah. And those glasses you wore? I had them in BRIGHT fuscia pink. Let’s not even go into the horrible things I did with tee-shirts and those little plastic disk thingies you’d pull the side into. I loved those. And leggings. Also in fuscia, or, as we called it back then “hot pink.”

  10. Hi Alex, this is my first time visiting your blog and I had to leave a comment. This is so funny. You made my day 🙂
But I’m sure my old pictures are the same though 🙂

    Have a good day,
    Anita
