You can be!
We’ve all had fun with poop and not-sleeping-through-the-night this week. But Spring Break isn’t just about bathrooms and exhaustion! We need to care! Like those dorks that went on Habitat for Humanity trips for Spring Break instead of Cancun. (Hi honey.)
This week on This Blogger Makes Fun of Stuff, I didn’t make fun of anything. I posted about Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and on a little girl, Getty Storm. An adorable sweetheart whose mind and spirit are going strong but who’s suffering from SMA.
Here’s an excerpt from my post:
You are handed an acronym and told it’s the cause of your little baby’s inability to roll over. You are given SMA or Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
You blink. The tears aren’t coming because you don’t even understand what those words mean.
But suddenly through literature and doctors and google those three letters mean more than you’d ever like to know. You know there are four types. You know who will survive and who may not. You learn that your little perfect baby will probably not live to her second birthday. Maybe not to her first.
You can help! Please go read my post, A Giveaway To Help A Child. You Pretty Much Have No Choice., for more details on how to spread the word. And as a thank you, I have a lovely CD, Sweet Water Child: Lullabies for Getty, to giveaway to you.
So I ask: Will you help Getty?
PS. On Monday, we will be back to our regularly scheduled program. Thanks for all this lallygagging and a fun Spring Break.
